About Concrete Contractors Grand Junction
Concrete Contractors Grand Junction handles residential flatwork in Grand Junction and the surrounding Grand Valley: driveways, patios, stamped concrete, sidewalks and walkways, slabs for garages, sheds and RV parking, and repair of concrete that has cracked, dropped or started to flake. When a repair will do, we say so, and when a slab is beyond saving we explain why.
Why valley concrete fails
Ground and weather are the two big factors. The Colorado Geological Survey names Grand Junction among Western Slope towns underlain by Mancos or Lewis shale, rock it flags for swelling potential, and in a place that gets roughly nine inches of rain a year, most of the water reaching the soil under a slab comes from sprinklers, drip lines and downspouts. Then add the climate: more than 3,200 hours of sun a year, around 68 days at 90 degrees or higher, and winter nights well below freezing. Concrete that ignores either one tends to crack, settle or scale within a few seasons.
What a job with us looks like
It starts on site, not over the phone. We measure the area, then trace where water comes from: the sprinkler zones, drip emitters, gutters and the grade of the yard. The quote that follows is in writing and breaks out thickness, base, steel, finish and the total, and it flags whether the City of Grand Junction or Mesa County will want a permit, including right-of-way work at the curb. Outdoor slabs go on compacted gravel with an air-entrained mix and a joint layout we draw before pour day. Summer pours start early and the fresh concrete is kept damp while it cures.
